How Ownly Builds Your Analysis
AI researches. Ownly calculates.
Ownly separates information you supplied, trusted public-source support, and planning estimates so the result stays useful without pretending certainty.
Labels you will see
- YOU PROVIDED
- Information you entered or confirmed.
- VERIFIED · NHTSA / EPA
- Information supported by those government sources.
- OWNLY ESTIMATE
- A planning estimate based on inputs and disclosed assumptions.
- OWNLY PROJECTED
- A forward-looking estimate such as future resale or ownership cost.
- WELL DOCUMENTED
- Strong, consistent support from authoritative or configuration-relevant sources.
- SOME RESEARCH AVAILABLE
- Useful evidence exists, though more specific support would improve it.
- REQUIRES MORE RESEARCH
- Available evidence is sparse, conflicting, or not specific enough.
- NOT ESTIMATED / NOT VERIFIED / NOT AVAILABLE
- A factual value or verification is unavailable; this is separate from evidence quality.
Ownly grades researched estimates by how well documented the available evidence is. “Well documented” means strong, consistent support; “Some research available” means useful but less complete evidence; “Requires more research” means the estimate should be treated cautiously.
Calculations and research
Ownly’s deterministic engine calculates financing, cash flow, fuel or energy, maintenance reserves, insurance inputs, taxes and fees, and year-by-year ownership projections. AI-assisted research may gather and summarize public vehicle evidence for maintenance, repair, depreciation, insurance, owner-report, parts, and theft context. It does not calculate consumer totals and it does not replace a direct quote or inspection.
Price Assessment is intentionally NOT RATED until Ownly has a dependable market-value basis. An evidence-quality or provenance label describes the available support; it is not a recommendation to buy or avoid a vehicle.
Sources and limitations
Government, manufacturer, and credible industry evidence generally carries more weight than forums, Reddit, or anecdotal owner reports. Community evidence adds real-world context; it does not automatically override authoritative information. Ownly may use NHTSA, EPA, manufacturer material, public listing pages, and other cited public sources.
Sources can be stale, incomplete, or unavailable. Recall campaign counts are reported for the year/make/model and do not prove that a particular VIN has an open recall. Check the VIN directly with NHTSA and confirm all decision-critical facts independently.
